2000 END-OF-SEASON NEWSLETTER

Another season is over – how quickly it went! Again, thank you to all who attended the Participants’ Meeting on September 25th. There was a lively exchange of ideas and we appreciate the different views expressed. The new Regatta format seems to be popular, based on the increased attendance this year, and our plans for next year are for some further fine-tuning.

With the comprehensive LORC website, maintained by John Crawley, this newsletter seems almost redundant since most of you have already accessed the information enclosed – i.e. year-end results and the awards banquet ticket order form – but for any of you who are still "web-reluctant" here they are. At the very least, it will serve as a reminder to get your banquet reservations in.

2000 Season Results and Awards Banquet.

Enclosed are the complete Season results for both the Regatta and Offshore Series. As you will recall from last year, in any division where five or more yachts had enough races to qualify for the season championship, a slightly lesser trophy will be awarded to the second place yacht. So even if you didn’t win the division title, but are one of the lucky second place winners, come and bring your crew to help you collect the trophy. In addition, Offshore flags and flags from the Sunday of weekend Regattas will be available for pick-up. If, for any reason you cannot attend the banquet, please arrange to have a fellow club member pick up your envelope.

On the back of this page is the ticket order form. We have left the prices the same as last year. Based on advance orders we expect a great turnout. Please get your forms in as quickly as possible. Payment is by VISA or cheque (we don’t have a Mastercard facility). We will do our best to arrange congenial seating arrangements, whatever the size of your group. But we need to know by the deadline of November 6th. The usual attire is business suits or similar for the men, and ladies; please feel free to be totally dazzling.

Annual General Meeting

This will be held at National Yacht Club on Monday, December 4th, at 7:00 pm to transact the official business of LORC. Each Member Club’s Delegate is urged to attend.
